Mary Ellen Kelly (1859-??)

Mary Ellen Kelly was born in Kane Co., Illinois in May of 1859. On February 18, 1878, she married John McNally, son of Miles and Mary (McDonald) McNally, John was born in September of 1853. Mary and John were married in Emmetsburg. John was a city Marshall and he also worked at a sawmill, he died in 1926 and is buried at St. John's Cemetery in Emmetsburg, along with several of their children. I found no grave for Mary. Mary and John became the parents of eight children: William, Daniel, Art, Edward, Ellen, Josie, Ernest, and Thomas.

The 1925 Census listed John as 70 years of age with a 3rd grade education, Mary was 65 with a 5th grade education. It also looks like their son William was living with them.

A. William McNally was born 1880, in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

B. Daniel E. McNally was born October 28, 1881 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He died April 21, 1947.

C. Art McNally was born September 6, 1883 in Emmetsburg. Art died after a lingering illness of several months. He was 19 years of age when he died on March 5, 1903.

D. Edward H. McNally was born June 4 of 1886 in Emmetsburg. On July 7, 1913, he was united into marriage with Amelia Stamback. Amelia was born November 8, 1890, the daughter of Jacob and Agnes (Lammers) Stamback.

E. Ellen E. McNally (also called Nellie) was born August 23, 1888 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She married Henry D. Clark on September 23, 1909. Henry was born in Iowa to a C.H. and Ida (Merrill) Clark. According to their marriage records, Henry place of residence is listed as Freedonia, Kansas, his occupation is listed as a farmer. Ellen died February 1977 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

F. Josie McNally born December 8, 1891 in Emmetsburg and died February 24, 1892, Josie is buried at St. John's Cemetery in Emmetsburg.

G. Ernest McNally was born March 19, 1894 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. He died August 31, 1895, after a tedious illness of over a month. The cause of death was dysentery. He was buried in the family plot at St. John's Cemetery.

H. Thomas McNally born September 3, 1896 in Emmetsburg, and died March 14, 1897.
